30 March 2023 – His Excellency Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Kenshiro Matsunami, Chairman of the Nippon Sport Science University (NSSU). Also present were its President, Mr. Ishii Takanori, Deputy Presidents as well as officials from NSSU.
During the call, H.E. Ambassador briefed on Malaysia’s aspiration to gain its first gold medal in the Olympic Games. For this purpose, Malaysia stands ready to learn from NSSU through its vast experiences in producing Olympians in various type of sports. Mr. Matsunami welcomed the proposal and committed to further explore the idea with Malaysia, in line with its globalization initiatives.
NSSU is the oldest sport science university in Asia, and the largest of its kind in the world. To date, NSSU has produced an outstanding number of Japanese Olympic medalists with 42 gold, 46 silver and 50 bronze.
