10 January 2024 – Representing H.E. Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, Mr. Anwar Udzir, Deputy Chief of Mission had the honour to receive a courtesy visit by H.E. Takuya Tasso, Governor of Iwate Prefecture and the Iwate Prefectural Government officials.
The visit was intended to update the Embassy on the outcomes of the Governor’s recent working visit to Malaysia, with the objectives of strengthening ties between Malaysia and Japan particularly the Iwate Prefecture, as well as promoting Iwate’s agricultural products and tourism attractions.
The meeting had successfully deepened the understanding between Malaysia and Iwate Prefecture, where the DCM who was also joined by Mr. Jaswan Mulop, Counsellor of the Agriculture Office in Tokyo, took the opportunity to promote by presenting the King of Fruit – Durian as well as Jackfruit. The Embassy of Malaysia appreciated the visit of the Governor and his officials and recommended other avenues that the Iwate prefectural Government could explore as follow ups to their visit to Malaysia. The Embassy had introduced one of the platforms for the Prefectural Government to consider in its promotional efforts by participating in the Malaysia’s leading biennial agricultural show – the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture & Agrotourism (MAHA) 2024.
