15 April 2025 – The Embassy welcomed a courtesy visit by the Special Select Committee on Environment, Science and Plantation of the House of Representatives, Parliament of Malaysia. The delegation, led by the Committee Chair, H.E. Datuk Haji Ahmad Amzad bin Mohamed @ Hashim, was received by Ms. Nora Azlinda binti Jaapar, Counsellor and Head of Chancery of the Embassy.

The meeting served as a platform to discuss the objectives of the Committee’s working visit to Japan, with a particular emphasis on strengthening Malaysia-Japan collaboration in the areas of environment, science, and plantation. Discussions also touched on how inter-parliamentary exchanges can support more informed and forward-looking policy making in both countries.

The Embassy has actively facilitated and coordinated the Committee’s programme, which includes meetings with key Japanese agencies and institutions involved in environmental management, scientific research, and sustainable plantation practices. These engagements are designed to promote knowledge sharing and identify best practices that could contribute to Malaysia’s national policy making and development priorities in those areas.
