





14 May 2023 – The Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo, Japan emerged as the Overall Champions of the ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT) Bowling Tournament 2023. The annual event was organised by the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Tokyo with full participation of all ASEAN member countries and representatives from ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC). The event was officiated by Mr. Kunihiko Hirabayashi, Secretary General of AJC.
Team Malaysia was led by H.E. Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, and was represented by Mr. Azrim Zamri, Mr. Rohaizad Abdul Lateh, Mr. Mohamad Shahaimi Shaari, Mr. Mohd Amin Mekah, Mr. Radzween Abdul Razak, and Ms. Farini Maslita Ali.
Team Malaysia defeated Philippines, the defending champion, who emerged second ahead of Lao PDR.
Team Malaysia also bagged two individual awards with both H.E. Ambassador Dato’ and Ms. Farini finishing runner-up in the Team Leader and Women’s Individual categories, respectively.
The bowling tournament is part of the ACT’s continuous efforts to foster engagement and friendship among the ACT families. It is also designed to encourage people-to-people interaction in a friendly competition towards achieving the ASEAN Community Vision 2025.
