1 June 2025 – The Honourable Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, hosted an engagement session with the Malaysian diaspora and students in Osaka, Japan. The session was held in conjunction with the Deputy Prime Minister’s working visit to Japan to officiate the Opening Ceremony of the Malaysia Pavilion at World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, on 31 May 2025. Also in attendance were H.E. Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad Sabu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security; H.E. Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry; H.E. Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abdul Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan; senior government officials; and members of the Malaysian diaspora and student community in Japan.
In his remarks, Dato’ Sri Fadillah expressed his appreciation for the strong presence and continued support of Malaysians abroad in promoting Malaysia’s image and contributing to national development. He provided updates on key government initiatives, particularly in the areas of energy transition, water security, and sustainable development. The session also featured an open dialogue, where attendees engaged with the Deputy Prime Minister on a variety of topics.
The event concluded with a group photo session and meet and greet session over a reception, offering attendees the chance to interact more closely with the Deputy Prime Minister, and the accompanying ministers. The engagement session served not only as a platform to strengthen ties between the Government and the Malaysian community in Japan, but also as a reaffirmation of the Government’s commitment to remain responsive to the voices and aspirations of Malaysians abroad.
