FAREWELL DINNER IN HONOUR OF HE DATUK SHAHARUDDIN MD SOM, AMBASSADOR OF MALAYSIA TO JAPAN, 13 JUNE 2014, IMPERIAL HOTEL, TOKYO

On 13 June 2014, the Embassy hosted a farewell dinner at Imperial Hotel, Tokyo in honour of HE Datuk Shaharuddin Md Som, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, whose tenure will end on 30 June 2014. All heads of Agencies, home based staff (HBS) and locally recruited staff (LRS) attended the event.

 

In his farewell speech, HE Datuk expressed his appreciation to the HBS and LRS in the Embassy for their support and cooperation and wished them every success in their future undertaking. On Malaysia-Japan bilateral relations, HE Datuk pointed out that the relations have expanded steadily in a wide range of areas particularly trade and investment and hoped that it would be further strengthened for the mutual benefit of both countries.

 

HE Datuk further recalled among others the challenging times during crisis management caused by the 3 March 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear meltdown. State Visit of SPB Yang di-Pertuan Agung and Raja Permaisuri Agong in October 2012 and Official and Working Visits by YAB Prime Minister, YAB Deputy Prime Minister, Yang Dipertua Dewan Negara, YB Foreign Minister and other Cabinet Ministers were the highlights of HE Datuk’s tenure in Tokyo.
