


27 June 2023 – Mr Anwar Udzir, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo attended the First Consultation Meeting of the Public Private Partnership (PPP) for the Development of Early Warning Systems (EWS) in the Asia Pacific Region organised by Ministry of Environment of Japan.
The Meeting was officiated by H.E. Mr Nishimura Akihiro, Minister of Environment of Japan and attended by all ASEAN representatives, and various stakeholders in EWS such as the Japan Meteorological Agency, Cabinet Office of Japan (Disaster Management), Japan International Cooperation (JICA), United Nation Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDDR), ASEAN-Japan Center (AJC) as well as several related Japanese companies.
The Meeting was the first consultation by the Japanese Government pursuant to its commitment announced at the 27th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) to provide an assistant package to promote the development of EWS through PPP in the Asia-Pacific Region.
