FRIENDS OF MALAYSIA IN FUKUOKA CELEBRATED MALAYSIA'S INDEPENDENCE DAY

The Fukuoka-Malaysia Friendship Association, as in the past years, hosted a reception to commemorate the 51st anniversary of Malaysia?s Independence on 16 October 2008 at Hotel Okura, Fukuoka. The reception was attended by members of the Association and Malaysians living and studying in Fukuoka. The guests of honour at the reception were Dato? Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahman, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan and his wife, Datin Jazliza Jalaludin. Accompanying the guests of honour were officials from the Human Resource Development of the Embassy, Tourism Malaysia Osaka and MIDA Osaka.

In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Hiroki Ogawa, President, Fukuoka-Malaysia Friendship Association underlined the importance of Malaysia-Japan relations and the potentials of strengthening their relations. He pledged that the Friendship Association would continue to play its role in cementing stronger ties between the two countries. In his response, Dato? Radzi commended Fukuoka-Malaysia Friendship Association for organising the function. He expressed Malaysia?s appreciation and gratitude for all the efforts that the Friendship Association has put in to strengthen relationship between Fukuoka and Malaysia. He reiterated the support of the Ministry, the Embassy and other agencies in the activities of the Friendship Association.

The guests were entertained to live Japanese music. Not to be outdone, Malaysian students also put up a performance with rendition of Raya songs. The evening earlier, a friendly bowling game was held involving members of the Association and Malaysians.
