The inaugural Indo-Pacific Energy Security Ministerial and Business Forum (IPEM) successfully concluded its final day in Tokyo on 15 March 2026. Led by TYT Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd. Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, the Malaysian delegation, including Mr. Zainal Azlan Mohd Nadzir (Deputy Chief of Mission) and Ms. Nora Azlinda Jaapar (Counsellor) participated in the forum, which brought together regional leaders and industry to advance energy security and cooperation.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI) and the US National Energy Dominance Council, the forum focused on driving investment, strengthening critical mineral partnerships, advancing nuclear energy, and reinforcing Indo-Pacific energy supply chains. A Joint Statement was issued at the conclusion of the forum, underscoring commitments to secure reliable energy for regional growth and accelerate a pragmatic energy transition.
