7 June 2023 – Mr Anwar Udzir, Deputy Chief of Mission, attended the Launching Ceremony of the United Bank Limited (UOB) Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Tokyo Advisory Centre hosted by the Deputy Chairman and CEO, Mr Wee Ee Cheong. It is the 10th UOB FDI Advisory Centre in Tokyo, Japan aimed at facilitating Japanese companies to expand their business in ASEAN.
Since 2011, UOB FDI Advisory Centre has helped more than 300 Japanese companies expanding in the Southeast Asia. Over the years, ASEAN has grown to become a strong investment destination for Japanese FDI. The total of Japanese FDI into Southeast Asia grew by 15% in 2022, compared to 2020, amounting to 2.65 trillion yen, despite the global slowdown due to the pandemic.
