31 May 2025 – The Honourable Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, officiated the grand opening of the Malaysia Pavilion at World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. Also present were H.E. Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, H.E. Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Deputy Premier of Sarawak, H.E. Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, as well as senior government officials.
In his address, Dato’ Sri Fadillah announced that the Pavilion has successfully secured over RM8 billion in potential investments, representing 61.54% of Malaysia’s RM13 billion target, achieved in just two months since operation began. This accomplishment involved the participation of 101 companies and the facilitation of 398 business meetings, underscoring the Pavilion’s role as a strategic platform for trade and investment promotion.
To date, the Pavilion has witnessed the signing of more than 20 memoranda of understanding (MoU) across various sectors. It has also recorded over 1 million visitors, placing Malaysia well on track to meet its goal of 1.5 million visitors by the end of the Expo.
Dato’ Sri Fadillah also highlighted that Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship theme, “Inclusivity and Sustainability”, complements the Expo’s overarching theme, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”. He emphasised that Malaysia is committed to promoting inclusive growth and sustainable innovation, positioning itself as a responsible and forward-looking partner in the global community.
