31 October 2025 – The Embassy of Malaysia in Japan hosted a reception to commemorate the 68th Anniversary of Malaysia’s National Day at the Four Seasons Hotel Otemachi, Tokyo. The event gathered 250 distinguished guests from the diplomatic corps, Japanese Government ministries and agencies, private sector, academia, and non-profit organisations. The reception was graced by the presence of Mr. Miyamoto Shingo, Director-General of the Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, who delivered the congratulatory remarks on behalf of H.E. Motegi Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan. Also in attendance were H.E. Furuya Keiji, Chairman of the Japan–Malaysia Parliamentary Friendship Association / Chairman of Japan–Malaysia Association (JMA), and Mr. Nagano Tsuyoshi, President of Japan–Malaysia Economic Association (JAMECA), who led the ceremonial toast.
In his welcoming remarks, H.E. Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, highlighted Malaysia’s strong bilateral relations with Japan, sustained people-to-people connections, robust trade and investment ties, and the shared aspiration to elevate cooperation. The reception showcased an array of authentic Malaysian dishes, traditional cultural dance performances, as well as a special video presentation featuring Visit Malaysia 2026, Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, and highlights of Malaysia’s participation at the World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. Special guests enjoyed the appearance of Visit Malaysia’s mascots “Wira and Manja”, and the symbolic “Pulut Kuning” cutting ceremony, which reflects prosperity, unity, and shared celebration.
The Embassy conveys its sincere appreciation to all guests for their presence and contribution towards the success of this year’s reception, and looks forward to further strengthening the Malaysia–Japan friendship and cooperation in the year ahead, particularly as Malaysia prepares to welcome the world for Visit Malaysia 2026.
