Malaysia's "Primitive Love" at Sapporo Snow Festival 2008
Keeping to the tradition of yesteryears, Malaysia again took part in this year's edition of the Sapporo Snow Festival, one of Japan's largest winter events. The week-long festival was held from 5 to 11 February 2008. Besides Malaysia, the festival also attracted participation by 13 other countries. Malaysia's participation was made possible by Tourism Malaysia.
Every winter, about two million people make their way to Sapporo to see the hundreds of beautiful snow statues and ice sculptures which line Odori Park, the grounds at Satoland, and the main street in Susukino.
Malaysia's entry called "Primitive Love" displayed a lovingly scene of a Kelabit woman and her baby on her back. The Kelabits, native tribes of Sarawak are popular for their long ears. Good words and admiration for "Primitive Love" were heard among visitors and judges alike.
