Meeting between Special Select Committee on Health with Chairman of Japan-Malaysia Association (JMA)

12 May 2025 – The Special Select Committee on Health, House of Representatives of the Parliament of Malaysia, led by H.E. Oscar Ling Chai Yew, held a meeting with H.E. Keiji Furuya, Chairman of the Japan-Malaysia Association and Chairman of the Japan-Malaysia Parliamentary Friendship Association. The Embassy was represented by Ms. Nora Azlinda Jaapar, Counsellor and Head of Chancery of the Embassy.

 

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on strengthening Malaysia–Japan cooperation in the healthcare sector. Discussions included Japan’s approach to addressing challenges related to an ageing population, healthcare financing, digital health solutions, and innovations in elderly care and nursing services.

 

The meeting signifies the shared commitment of both countries to deepen parliamentary engagement and enhance bilateral cooperation in addressing common healthcare challenges, particularly in the areas of ageing, medical innovation, and health system sustainability.
