10 January 2025 – The Embassy of Malaysia in Japan, led by Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Anwar Udzir, met with the Malaysia Ryugaku Support Center, represented by CEO Mr. Takeshi Saito and Senior Manager Ms. Saki Amemiya. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration to support Japanese students pursuing higher education opportunities in Malaysia.

The center, which facilitates over 500 Japanese students annually in studying in Malaysia, has been instrumental in promoting Malaysia as a prime destination for tertiary education. This includes organising seminars and briefing sessions for Japanese high school students, teachers, and parents to increase awareness of Malaysia’s world-class education system and affordable study options. According to the 2023 Annual Survey by the Japan Association of Overseas Studies (JAOS), Malaysia was recognised as one of the top three emerging destinations for Japanese students pursuing studies abroad.

Both parties reiterated their commitment to promote Malaysia as an education hub in the region and acknowledged the critical role of providing comprehensive assistance to ensure students' academic achievements and well-being during their studies in Malaysia.
