YB Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital, visited the Toshiba Corporation office in Tokyo on 17 March 2026. He was accompanied by Mr. Zainal Azlan Mohd Nadzir, Deputy Chief of Mission, together with officials from the Embassy of Malaysia and the Ministry of Digital.
During the visit, the Minister was briefed on Toshiba’s advanced weather data systems, including rainfall prediction technologies and methods of measuring atmospheric conditions. He was also introduced to Toshiba’s smart farming initiatives in collaboration with Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA). The session also covered Toshiba’s developments in Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technology, as well as an overview of their global activities in the digital and innovation space. It was a productive visit with a great exchange of ideas on how such technologies could support Malaysia’s digitalisation efforts, particularly in areas like data utilisation, agriculture, and secure communications.
