The Honourable Dato? Sri Azalina Dato? Othman Said, Minister of Tourism of Malaysia was on a one-day working visit to Tokyo on 19 June 2008. She was accompanied by the Director General of Tourism Malaysia, Dato? Mirza Mohammad Taiyab and senior officials from Tourism Malaysia as well as representatives from advertising agency. The working visit was aimed at strengthening the cooperation between Malaysia and Japan?s tourism and travel trade partners.
Addressing an audience comprising senior executives of key Japanese travel and tourism industry, Dato? Azalina extended her appreciation to the relevant airlines, wholesalers and tour operators for their continuous support and contribution to promote Malaysia to the Japanese. She expressed her confidence that the strong networking between Malaysia and tourism industry players in Japan would remain the key factor for Malaysia to acquire greater share of the Japanese outbound tourist market.
This was the first working visit by Dato? Azalina to Japan since her appointment as Minister of Tourism, Malaysia in March this year.
