New JPA-sponsored Students Arrived in Japan
A total of 239 new Malaysian students arrived in three batches on 21 March, 23 March and 30 March 2009 respectively to begin their pursuit for academic excellence in the Land of the Rising Sun, as Japan is fondly known. The students, all sponsored by Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam Malaysia (Public Services Department of Malaysia) were warmly welcome by the sakura blossom which indicated the beginning of spring in Japan. With their length of studies ranging between three and four years at the minimum, there will be many more opportunities for these students to enjoy the beauty of Japan and the cherry blossom experience that is unique in this country. For now, the focus should be to quickly adapt to the new surrounding and concentrate on their studies.
The Human Resources Department of the Embassy organized orientation sessions for the students to prepare them with the basic knowledge about life in Japan. Briefings by the Embassy’s officials on life and responsibilities as a student which include the do’s and don’ts; disbursement of scholarship and finance-related matters; security and consular were given to the students. They also had the opportunity of meeting and listening to Y.Bhg. Dato’ Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahman, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan. While reminding them of their main task in Japan as students and the need to strive for academic achievement, Dato’ Radzi also encouraged them to participate in community activities where they reside and be active in club activities such as the Malaysian Students Association in Japan (MSAJ).
The students then left for their respective destinations all over Japan, determined to fulfil the dreams of successfully completing their studies.
