19 March 2024 – The Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo was invited to conduct an online public diplomacy programme to five primary schools in Miyoshi Town. Some 335 students from Miyoshi Elementary School, Fujikubo Elementary School, Kamitomi Elementary School, Karasawa Elementary School and Chikumazawa Elementary School actively participated in the programme.
During the session, Mr. Md Jeffry Joe Meyer, Second Secretary (Information & Public Relations) briefed the students on multicultural co-existence in Malaysia and introduced local tropical fruits, flora and fauna as well as various festivals celebrated in Malaysia. The students also were given the opportunity to learn basic Malay language and engaged in a Q&A session.
This marks the third time for the Miyoshi Town Educational Board organising such a programme since 2021. As the designated host town for Malaysia during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Miyoshi Town holds a significant place in Malaysia’s heart. The town also maintains a sister-city relations with Petaling Jaya.
