Opening Ceremony of the Selangor Week at the Malaysia Pavilion, World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai

5 May 2025 – H.E. Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, attended the Opening Ceremony of Selangor Week at the Malaysia Pavilion, World Exposition 2025 Osaka, Kansai. The ceremony was officiated by His Royal Highness Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Idris Shah, Crown Prince of Selangor.

 

In his welcoming remarks, H.E. Dato’ Shahril underscored Japan’s longstanding role as one of Malaysia’s key trading partners. He noted that Selangor, as one of Malaysia’s foremost economic powerhouses, is well-positioned to foster new partnerships, drive economic growth, and promote global collaboration. In 2024, Selangor retained its position as the top investment destination for Japan, attracting RM101.1 billion in approved investments, accounting for over 27% of total Japanese investments in Malaysia.

 

Held under the theme “Building a Resilient Future”, Selangor Week showcases the state’s strengths in trade, innovation, sustainable development, and investment potential. In addition to the Opening Ceremony, a documentary screening on the Selangor Royal Heritage Forest was also held, highlighting the state's commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable land management.
