THE 13TH BILATERAL CONSULTATIONS BETWEEN
OFFICIALS OF THE FOREIGN MINISTRIES OF MALAYSIA AND JAPAN,
TOKYO, JAPAN, 7 OCTOBER 2011
The 13th Malaysia-Japan Bilateral Consultations was held in Tokyo, Japan on 7 October 2011. His Excellency Tan Sri Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahman, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia led the Malaysian delegation while His Excellency Koro Bessho, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Japan led the Japanese delegation. The Malaysian delegation comprised of the Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, Undersecretary of the East Asia Division of Wisma Putra, Deputy Chief of Mission and First Secretary of the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo as well as Assistant Secretary of the East Asia Division of Wisma Putra.
The bilateral consultations between the two countries have been held since 1977. The main issues discussed at the 13th Bilateral Consultations include measures to further strengthened bilateral ties between the two nations as well as current developments in Malaysia and Japan. The Meeting also discussed several regional and international issues which are of the interests to both countries including the developments in ASEAN, developments in Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia, developments in the Middle East and North Africa as well as cooperation in multilateral fora including reform of the UN Security Council, Envoronment/Climate Change, Disaster Management and Disaster Relief, and Peacekeeping.
Prior to the Meeting, His Excellency Tan Sri Secretary General also had the opportunity to have courtesy calls respectively on His Excellency Joe Nakano, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs and His Excellency Mr Kenichiro Sasae, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs.
