Working visit to Tsukuba University

2 June 2023 – H.E. Dato’ Dr Haji Megat Sany bin Megat Ahmad Supian, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education led the Malaysian delegation to visit Tsukuba University in Ibaraki Prefecture. Also present were Mr Imran Yussof, Counsellor of Human Resource Development, and Ms Salfarina Salim, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo, Japan.

 

During the visit, the delegation paid a courtesy call on Professor Ikeda Jun, Vice President and Executive Director for Global Affairs, University of Tsukuba. Both sides commended the progress of the University in setting up a campus in Malaysia. It will be the first Japanese University branch campus abroad.

 

There are currently 10,000 students, 2,400 faculty members and 3,000 administration staff.  The University also boasts 3 Nobel Prize laureates, as well as 133 Olympics and Paralympics medallists.
