On 5 June 2026, H.E. Ambassador Mohd Adli Abdullah received a courtesy call from YBhg. Dato’ Peter Ng, Founder and Executive Chairman of UCSI Group, and Dr. Raj Kumar, Vice President of the Strategy Office. The delegation is undertaking a working visit to Kazakhstan to engage with selected universities and explore avenues for institutional collaboration with higher educational partners in Kazakhstan.
The Embassy was informed that UCSI University, with a current student population exceeding 15,000, continues to distinguish itself globally, with strong performance across multiple disciplines. It is currently ranked among the world’s top 50 in four subject areas, namely Music, Performing Arts, Art and Design, as well as Hospitality and Leisure Management, underscoring its recognised excellence in creative and service-oriented fields.
In addition, UCSI has achieved notable ranking in a broader range of disciplines including Engineering, Business and Management Studies, Computer Science and Information Systems, Pharmacy and Pharmacology, Economics and Econometrics and Medicine. This wide academic breadth highlights the university’s capacity to engage in diverse and high-impact international academic collaborations.
UCSI also conveyed its interest in expanding mobility programmes with Kazakhstani universities, particularly in student mobility programmes.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on prospective collaborations between UCSI and universities in Kazakhstan. The Embassy welcomed UCSI’s proactive outreach, noting that such initiatives reinforce the growing importance of education as a strategic component of Malaysia – Kazakhstan relations.
The Embassy is confident that this engagement represents a positive step forward as both countries strengthen their roles as regional educational hubs, Malaysia in Southeast Asia and Kazakhstan in Central Asia. It also contributes to deepening people-to-people ties and enhancing knowledge linkages.
