Koreans, foreigners and Malaysians in Seoul had the chance to enjoy authentic Malaysian food and purchase Malaysian batik, clothing and crafts at the first Malaysia Spring Sunday Market held at the Embassy compound on 12 May 2013 from 11 in the morning to 6 in the evening. About 300 people visited the market organized by Tourism Malaysia, Seoul in cooperation with PERWAKILAN (association of spouses of Embassy officials), Malaysian students associations - Association of Malaysian Students in Korea (PPMK) and UMNO Club (KUK) - as well as the Malaysian Association of the Republic of Korea (MARK). Apart from introducing the Malaysian gastronomic culture to Koreans in a “night market” or “pasar malam” atmosphere, the event was also part of the charity program to donate part of the proceeds earned at the market to the Namsan Orphanage. There was also a lucky draw attraction of a flight ticket to Malaysia for the visitors.
