On 18 February 2025, HE Dato' Mohd Zamruni Khalid, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Korea, paid a courtesy call on Governor Lee Cheol-woo of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and Mayor Joo Nak-young of Gyeongju City to explore avenues for collaboration in ensuring the success of the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (2025 AELM), which will be held in Gyeongju this November. During the meeting, Governor Lee outlined Gyeongsangbuk-do’s extensive preparations for the 2025 AELM, including infrastructure development, security measures, and initiatives to promote cultural and economic exchanges. As part of the visit, HE Ambassador also toured key venues for the 2025 AELM, including Hwabaek Convention Centre (HICO), the National Museum of Gyeongju, and Bulguksa Temple, as well as accommodations around Gyeongju.
