An official reception on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Independence was hosted by Ambassador Othman Samin at Hilton Hotel, Rabat on 11 September 2007. The Government of Morocco was represented by H.E. Salaheddine Mezouan, Minister of Industry, Trade and Upgrading of Economy. The highlights of the reception were traditional procession of the guest of honor and giving away of bunga telur to all guests to reflect the theme of the celebration "My Glorious Malaysia". Earlier on 31 August 2007, a flag raising ceremony was held at the Official Residence of Malaysia Ambassador in Rabat and it was attended almost all Malaysians residing in Morocco.
