In conjunction with the 49th ASEAN Day, Malaysia as the Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Rabat (ACR) organised the ASEAN flag raising ceremony at the Official Residence of Malaysia on 8 August 2016. H.E. Dato’ Jamal Hassan, Ambassador of Malaysia, delivered a speech on importance of the occasion, and to congratulate Morocco on their accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC). The ceremony was attended by all Ambassadors and home-based staff of all Embassies of ASEAN Member States in Rabat, namely Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. It was also attended by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Morocco, members of the diplomatic corps, students from ASEAN countries and other guests. The ACR also held a book exhibition on ASEAN, showcasing books on the theme ASEAN and books on individual Member States. The guests were treated to an array of delicacies from the five ASEAN Member States in Rabat.
