Fête du Mouton 2017 (Hari Raya Aidil Adha 2017)

It was a busy weekend indeed. Immediately after the 2017 Merdeka day celebration, the Embassy of Malaysia in Rabat, Morocco once again joined hands with the Malaysian Student’s Association in Morocco (PMMM) to organise the Fête du Mouton 2017 or Aidil Adha Celebration.

On 3rd September 2017 (2nd day of Eid), we gathered at the Embassy compound to slaughter the sacrificial animals (1 cattle and 3 sheeps). The slaughtering was done by Ustaz Ayman Al-Akiti who then led the meat cutting process. Many hands make light work as we managed to complete the meat cutting process in less than 6 hours. It was a tall order for many of us who had very little or no experience at all.

It was then action time for the cooking team who burned the midnight oil to prepare all the dishes for the gathering the next day.

On 4th September 2017 (3rd day of Eid), almost 100 Malaysians gathered at the Embassy for the Eidul Adha Celebration. Mr. Shahril Nizam Abdul Malek, Charge D’Affaires a.i of the Embassy delivered a short remarks of appreciation to the organising committee who have been working tirelessly to make the event a success. He also reminded the audience on the significance of Aidil Adha namely the act of sacrifice and why it is more blessed to give rather than to receive.

All in all, the gathering was a big success thanks to the teamwork and cooperation of those involved directly and indirectly.
