The Embassy of Malaysia, together with Hilton Hotel and Diplomatica Magazine jointly organized a Malaysian food Promotion and cooking demonstration at Hilton Hotel in Rabat on 22 April 2007. The highlight of the Malaysian Food Promotion was a cooking demonstration by the Ambassador of Malaysia to Morocco, H.E. Othman Samin at the hotel’s kitchen. This was followed by an elaborate Malaysian lunch attended by selected Ambassadors and corporate figures.
The Malaysian food promotion started with guests being served cocktails and welcome-drink at Hilton’s kitchen. Ambassador Othman later briefed and demonstrated the guests on the authentic ingredients and careful preparation of some of Malaysia’s finest cuisine such as Satay, Kerabu So’on, Kerutup Ayam and Pengat Pisang. Ambassador Othman was assisted by members of Perwakilan during the demonstration.
After the cooking demonstration, guests were ushered to the dining room where the Hilton staff laid out and presented an elaborate five-course Malaysian lunch. At the end of the event, guests were given brochures on Malaysia as well memorable souvenirs notably the traditional Bunga Telur to rekindle the spirit of the Malaysian hospitality at wedding ceremonies.
The cooking demonstration and lunch received thumb-ups from the guests and the events have garnered interest among the locals on Malaysian cuisine. The event will be published by Diplomatica Magazine in their upcoming publication.
