Dato Sri SA Vigneswaran, the President of the Senate of Malaysia made an Official Visit to Morocco at the invitation of His Excellency Abdelhakim Benchamach, President of the House of Councillors of Morocco from 17-20 May 2017. Dato Sri SA Vigneswaran was joined by 3 Senators and several officials from the Senate of Malaysia.
A series of official meetings was arranged by the Embassy of Malaysia in Rabat, Morocco in coordination with the House of Councillors of Morocco, namely:
- Meeting with His Excellency Saad Eddine El Othmani, Head of Government of the Kingdom of Morocco
- Meeting with Mr. Abdessamad Kayouh, 1st Vice President of the House of Councillors of Morocco
- Meeting with His Excellency Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation
- Mrs. Khadija Zoumi, President of the Morocco-Malaysia Parliamentary Friendship Group
- Meeting with Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid, Chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS).
The afore-mentioned meetings had provided the opportunity for both sides to exchange views on the latest development in Malaysia and in Morocco as well as on globals political and security related issues among others on terrorism and the threat of radicalisation.
Dato Sri SA Vigneswaran also hosted a dinner for the Malaysian students in Morrocco during which he shared the country’s aspiration regarding TN50 as well as the latest development in Malaysia. The opportunity to casually interact with Dato Sri SA Vigneswaran and the Senators was very much welcomed and highly appreciated by the students.
On the last night of the delegation’s stay in Morocco, His Excellency Dato’ Jamal Hassan, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Morocco hosted a dinner in honour of Dato Sri SA Vigneswaran and the delegation at the Official Residence.
