Birth/Marriage Registration

1. REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGE FOR MALAYSIANS

 

Non-Muslim - Malaysian citizens who were married abroad (either one or both the couple are citizens of Malaysia) must register their marriage with the Embassy within six (6) months.

 

Fees:

5 USD - Marriage Certificate

7 USD – Each Supporting Documents Endorsement

Late Fees:

25 USD – First 12 Months

13 USD – For Each of the Following Years or Part Thereof

  • Complete Original Application Form (JPN.KC.06) – at Embassy                      
  • Husband & Wife Passport
  • 2 Photos of Husband & Wife
  • Husband & Wife Identification Card (MyKad/NRC/ID) - Notarial Translation if Burmese Language & Attested by MOFA
  • Marriage Certificate
  • Notarial Translation Marriage Certificate & Attested by MOFA
  • Birth Certificate of Myanmar Nationality
  • Notarial Translation Birth Certificate of Myanmar Nationality & Attested by MOFA
  • Family List of Myanmar Nationality
  • Notarial Translation Family List of Myanmar Nationality & Attested by MOFA
  • Single Status of Husband & Wife
  • Notarial Translation Single Status of Myanmar Nationality Original & Attested by MOFA
  • All original documents must be accompanied by 1 set of photocopies

 

Muslim Malaysian marriages are subject to prior consent from the religious authorities in Malaysia and must comply with the regulations set by the state religious department of the applicants. However, officials from the Embassy of Malaysia will be able to act as a witness for the Wakallah Form (Borang Kebenaran Wali) as part of the documentation requirements for the application process.

2. REGISTRATION OF CHILD BIRTH

 

OVERSEAS BIRTH REGISTER APPLICATION

Article 14 (1) (b)

Section 1 (c) of Part II, Second Schedule of the Federal Constitution

 

 (c) Every person born outside the Federation whose father at the time of the birth was a citizen and within one year after the birth took place or within such further period as may be allowed by the Federal Government in any case.

 

Fees:

5 USD - Birth Certificate

7 USD – Each Supporting Documents Endorsement

 

CONDITIONS OF APPLICATION

1. This application must be made within one year from the date of birth of the child.

2. Applications received after a period of one year are referred to the Registrar, National Registration Department for consideration and payment will be subject to a penalty. A letter showing the reason for the delay is required and this process will take a long time to consider.

3. The applicant (father) and child to be registered must be present at the Consular Division, Embassy of Malaysia, Yangon when submitting the application.

  • Parents’ Passport
  • 2 Photos of Newborn Baby
  • Parents’ Identification Card (MyKad/NRC/ID) - Notarial Translation if Burmese Language & Attested by MOFA
  • Marriage Certificate
  • Notarial Translation of Marriage Certificate & Attested by MOFA
  • Birth Certificate
  • Notarial Translation of Birth Certificate & Attested by MOFA
  • All original documents must be accompanied by 1 set of photocopies
