The ASEAN Committee in Muscat (ACM) organised a working visit to Ibri, the capital of Governorate of Ad Dhahirah, Sultanate of Oman, on 12 December 2018. During the visit, the ACM called on Sheikh Saif bin Hamiar Al Malik Al Shihi, Governor of Ad Dhahirah. A new highway from Ibri to the Oman-Saudi border is expected to be inaugurated in the new year. The road project has been called an “engineering marvel” having been built through the sands of the Empty Quarter. The highway will reduce more than 800km in the journey from Oman to Saudi Arabia.
