H.E. Dato’ Rustam Yahaya, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Sultanate of Oman and Y.Bhg. Datin Dr. Musrifah Sapardi hosted a reception to celebrate the birthday of Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di Pertuan Agong. The event was held at the Official Residence, Rumah Malaysia, in Muscat on 7 June 2012 and attended by around 250 Malaysians residing in Oman as well as several Omani friends.
During his welcoming remarks, H.E. Dato’ Rustam stressed on the importance of esprit de corps among Malaysians, especially while they live overseas even if they have difference political inclination or affiliation. He also reaffirmed that the Embassy is committed with its roles and responsibilities to ensure the well being of all Malaysians.
H.E. Ambassador also took the opportunity to bid farewell to several Malaysians who would be leaving Oman, and welcomed those who have just arrived in Oman. He thanked those who have participated and contributed towards the success of Embassy’s events and welcomed any fresh suggestions to ensure more success in the future.
As 2013 will be the 30th year the establishment of the Malaysian Embassy in Oman, H.E. Dato’ Rustam informed the guests that the Embassy plans to commemorate the anniversary with a large scale celebration. In this regard, he welcomed Malaysians in Oman to contribute constructive ideas and expertise as well as being part of the committee that will be established by the Embassy to realize the event.
The guests were feasted with sumptuous dinner duly prepared by the Embassy and food contributed by members of PERWAKILAN Muscat.
