In collaboration with the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), the Embassy of Malaysia in Muscat has successfully organised a one-day Palm Oil Networking Seminar on 27 February 2023 at the Sheraton Oman Hotel. The seminar witnessed the involvement of almost 100 participants from both Malaysian and Omani industry players in the palm oil related fields.

Oman is one of the important export destinations for Malaysian palm oil in the GCC countries. In 2022, Malaysian palm oil export to Oman reached 100,000 metric tons. Acknowledging Oman’s importance in the oils and fats market in the region, Malaysia has identified Oman as one of the countries to be chosen as the venue of this year’s Palm Oil Networking Seminar.

The seminar served as a platform to explore the possibilities of Malaysian palm oil products. The participants had the opportunity to exchange views and ideas on the latest developments and way forward for palm oil industry in the Sultanate of Oman. Malaysian palm oil industry has so much more to offer as it has a certain appeal to the people of the Sultanate of Oman. Aside from its versatility, the palm oil’s health and cooking benefits are much sought after in the Sultanate.

Special thanks to Mr. Abdul Lateef, Board Member and Chairman of Foreign Investment Committee of OCCI and Mr. Saleem Al Bartamani, CEO of Areej Company for their support to the event.
