President of ALC Muscat Bids Farewell

29 June 2014 1 views

YBhg. Datin Dr. Musrifah Sapardi, outgoing President of the ASEAN Ladies Circle in Muscat handed over the presidency to Madam Larasati Sukanto, wife to the Ambassador of Indonesia to Oman on Thursday, 18th June 2014. The event held at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Muscat was hosted by Madam Celine Gross, wife to the Consul General of Singapore to Oman.

In her farewell speech, YBhg Datin Dr. Musrifah remarked that ALC, established on 26 May 2012, has been the backbone of the formal grouping of ACM (ASEAN Committee in Muscat) which coincidentally at present is chaired by H.E. Dato’ Rustam Yahaya, Ambassador of Malaysia to Oman. Nonetheless, in the span of two years ALC Muscat had also made a name of its own in the social circle in the Sultanate especially for its charity work.

The handing over ceremony was a sad moment for both the incoming and outgoing President of ALC as both were instrumental in the establishment of ALC in Muscat. The moment was made even more memorable as Datin Dr. Musrifah was presented with a hand made album comprising of pictures from the first informal gathering of wives of the ASEAN countries accredited to Oman held at the Chado Café more than two years ago!

Not wanting the handover event to be a sad one, the event continued with a talk on “Nutrition in Health and Disease Prevention” given by Dr. Amanat Ali, Associate Professor at the Department of Science and Nutrition, Sultan Qaboos University. The talk was a very interesting one in which the speaker emphasizes that one can eat a variety of food but it must always be in moderation. This fact had certainly brought wide smiles to the ALC members as a sumptuous buffet spread awaits them for lunch! As the saying goes, “let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”.
