The Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, Mr. Herman Hardynata Ahmad, hosted an Eid celebration at his residence, bringing together Home-Based Staff (HBS) and their families, Malaysian students, and members of the Malaysian community in Karachi.
The celebration commenced with the Eid prayer led by a student, followed by a khutbah delivered by Mr. Helmee. The programme continued with welcoming remarks by the Consul General, followed by Eid refreshments and a photo session.
The food was prepared collectively by the HBS in a potluck-style arrangement, showcasing a variety of traditional Malaysian dishes. Among the highlights were ketupat, nasi impit, pulut kuning, rendang ayam, rendang daging, sambal udang, kuah kacang, lontong, and an assortment of kuih raya.
In his remarks, the Consul General extended heartfelt Eid greetings to all members of the Consulate General, expressing appreciation for their dedication and contributions throughout the year. He emphasised that Eid ul-Fitr is not only a joyous celebration but also a time for reflection on the spiritual journey of Ramadan—one that nurtures patience, humility, and compassion.
He also conveyed his hope for continued friendship, prosperity, and peace between Malaysia and Pakistan.
In closing, he once again extended his warm wishes to all, sharing the traditional Malaysian greeting: “Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin,” a phrase that expresses sincere Eid greetings while seeking forgiveness for any wrongdoings, both seen and unseen, in the spirit of reconciliation and renewal.
The celebration concluded at 5:00 PM with the distribution of duit raya to the children of the Home-Based Staff, marking a joyful end to the event.
