HBS of Malawakil Karachi with family
On the peaceful and blessed morning of 1st Syawal 1430 Hijrah in Pakistan (Monday, 21st September 2009), the Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi together with PERWAKILAN celebrated the Eid-ul-Fitr in the new spirit of 1 Malaysia by hosting a 'Rumah Terbuka'/Open House at the Consulate Building. Around 80 multi-racial Malaysians citizen residing in the Province of Sindh and Karachi joined the occasion.
The celebration started with the Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, Mr. Mohd. Khalid Abdul Razak and Madam Aniza Khalid together with Malaysian muslim community offering 'Takbir Hari Raya' and later performed Eid Prayer at the Consulate Hall. In his speech prior to Eid Prayer, the Consul General urged all Malaysians in Karachi to strengthen and enhance their ties and 'silaturahim' in line with the 1Malaysia concept. After the Eid Sermon, the Consul General and his spouse cheered up the celebration by giving out 'Duit Raya' to all the children and students who celebrated this very special occasion in Karachi and later continued with the distribution of 'Wang Zakat Fitrah' to all the Madrassah students and to the locals. With the initiative of the Consul General, starting from this year onwards, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi will collect Zakat Fitrah and accordingly distribute it to the needy people.
The joy and excitement of 'Hari Raya' continued with the Open House. Various Malaysian traditional delicacies were served such as Nasi Minyak, Nasi Impit, Kari Ayam, Ketupat, Kuah Kacang, Rendang Daging, Lodeh, Kuey Teow, etc and cakes and cookies.
The atmosphere of 'Hari Raya' celebrated in Karachi with traditional Malaysian feast will remain an everlasting experience and nostalgic memories to all especially to those celebrating it for the first time here.
