3RD ASEAN FOOD AND HANDICRAFT, STOCKHOLM, 14th JUNE 2014

The 3rd ASEAN Food and Handicraft 2014 was held on 14th June 2014 at the compound of the Embassy of Thailand, Stockholm. The event was co-organised by the grouping of ASEAN embassies in Stockholm, which comprises of embassies of Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam.

 

The Embassy of Malaysia set-up two booths, on promotion and sale of Malaysia’s traditional food and drinks and the demonstration of Malaysia’s batik and promotion of Malaysia’s tourism. 

 

H.E. Dato´ Badruddin Ab. Rahman, Ambassador of Malaysia to Sweden and Datin Noor Mah Mahmud joined the ASEAN Heads of Missions and their spouses in welcoming all guests, the public and the ASEAN communities to the one-day event.

 

The event was a fun filled which include demonstration of traditional handicrafts and cultures, cultural performances and savouring of traditional foods and drinks by the respective ASEAN embassies as well as activities of lucky draw. The event was a success with around 400 people enjoying themselves to the singing, dancing and other activities. The Embassy of Malaysia prepared nasi lemak, mee goreng, sate, currypuffs, apam, kuih serimuka and teh tarik. The Malaysian embassy´s Home-based officers and family members, PERWAKILAN Stockholm, Locally-recruited staff of the Embassy together with few Malaysians in Stockholm participated actively in the activities and the organization of the event. The 3rd ASEAN Food and Handicraft 2014 was part of the Embassy’s on-going activities in promoting Malaysia to the Swedish public and instilling the spirit of friendship, solidarity and cooperation among ASEAN embassies and communities in Stockholm.
