On 6 April 2025, Ambassador Sarimah Akbar received a courtesy call from the newly appointed Ambassador of the Philippines to Sweden, His Excellency Patrick Chuasoto, at the Embassy of Malaysia in Stockholm.
During the warm and productive meeting, both ambassadors discussed the importance of upholding ASEAN centrality amidst an evolving geopolitical landscape. They also exchanged insights on regional cooperation and the shared challenges facing Southeast Asia today. Also, the discussion touched on Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, including preparations for upcoming meetings taking place this year.
Towards the end, both sides expressed enthusiasm for deeper collaboration in advancing ASEAN’s goals in Sweden and strengthening bilateral relations between Malaysia and the Philippines.
