Consulate General of Malaysia in Songkhla organised the 54th National Day Celebration to mark the 54th Anniversary of Malaysian Independence on 23rd September 2011 which is very significant to Malaysians in Malaysia as well as Malaysians abroad. VIPs at the memorable function included several governors of the southern provinces such as H.E. Winyu Tongsakul, Governor of Songkhla, H.E. Niphon Naraphitakkul, Governor of Pattani, Mr. Utit Chuchouy, Chief of Provincial Administration Organization of Songkhla, Mr. Pera Tantiseranee, Mayor of Songkhla as well as senior officials from Military, Police, Customs, Immigration, Narcotics Law Enforcement Bureau and others. The event was also graced through the presence of several VIPs from Malaysia including State EXCO Members of Kedah and Perlis namely YB. Bakri and YB. Yip (Perlis) and YB. Ahmad Zaini (MP for Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah). The recently celebrated 54th National Day of Malaysia at the level of Consulate General Office was made more memorable also through the participation of 25 strong members of cultural troop from Ipoh City Council, courtesy of Ipoh City Mayor, Dato Hj. Roshidi Hj. Hashim.
