After 2 years of Covid-19 pandemic, Yala Municipality once again hosted the Melayu Day 2023 program on 24-26 February 2023 at Chang Pueak Park, Yala Province. The Consulate General of Malaysia in Songkhla as the co-organizer has invited a few Malaysian agencies, universities and entrepreneurs to participate and promoting their service and products to the locals. The participants were from Tourism Melaka, Perbadanan Muzium Melaka (PERZIM), Menara Taming Sari Melaka, Institute Warisan Melaka (INSWA) for performance, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), Tourism Malaysia in Bangkok, FELDA, University Sultan Zainal Abidin (UnisZA), Kolej University Islam Perlis (KUIPs), Sultan Abdul Halim Mua’dzam Shah Islamic International University (UniSHAMs), ADABI Thai, Wang Mart, Uniti Asia Link and Million Global Group.
The event has featured Melayu cultural from Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. There was also a seminar on ‘Live Happily on Culture Diversity’ delivered by guest speakers from Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. The Honorable Datuk Muhammad Jailani bin Khamis, Malacca State Executive Council for Tourism, Heritage and Culture was the speaker for Malaysia during the seminar. Opening day of the 8th Melayu Yala was started with Melayu Cultural parades, the elephant parade, a Thai-Melayu speech contest, Silat Competition and cultural performances from Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand to highlight the cultural harmony. Overall the event was held successfully as all tents (Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand) were filled by locals who interested to see the exhibition prepared by the participants.
