Meeting Between Officials of the State of Perlis and their Counterparts From Songkhla, 25 Jan 2010

A Meeting was held in the Songkhla’s Governor Office involving officials from the Songkhla’s Governor Office and their counterparts from the State of Perlis on 25 January 2010 to discuss border issues involving exit/entry point of Padang Besar which links both Perlis and Songkha Province.

The focus of the meeting centered on possible means that could be devised to promote flows of business and visitors into both side of borders without compromising on security aspect as well as resolving impending issues that might hamper mutual interests of both sides towards ensuring smooth working relations among their officers.

At the Meeting, both Songkhla and Perlis also reached and agreement on the need to organize an Annual Sport Festival involving officials from the two sides as a step forward towards forging better working relations as well as to set up an informal platform to discuss issues of mutual interests that might crop up in their course of executing their tasks in the future.  

At the Meeting, it is agreed that Songkhla Governor’s Office would host the 1^st Annual Sport Festival for Songkhla –Perlis on 9,10 and 11 April 2010 in Hatyai, Songkhla.

It is also agreed that  the Consulate General Office of Malaysia in Songkhla would play the intermediary roles for Songkhla and Perlis in ensuring the smooth running of the event. It has also been decided that four types of sports that would be staged come April are Football (two teams involving VIPs and Youth); bowling, golf and badminton.
