MEETING THE REFUGEES: PERWAKILAN SONGKHLA MADE A CHARITY VISIT
In light of Ramadhan, the Perwakilan (The Ministry of Foreign Affair’s Women Association) Malaysia in Songkhla made a visit to the Songkhla Immigration Detention Centre to meet some of the Muslim refugees.
They were about 200 refugees believed to be of Uighur and Myanmar origins in the detention centre. Among them were 50 children, including 7 newborns. All under the good care of Thai authorities and local Muslim NGOs.
Perwakilan Songkhla consequently donated some food provisions and toiletries to the refugees. Hopefully, such small effort would render them joy and ease their plight during this holy month of Ramadhan.
In all clarity, the visit has shed some deep reflection among members of Perwakilan Songkhla that we should all be grateful to be Malaysians.
