Thailand-Malaysia opened a border crossing at Nathawi District in Songkhla

BANGKOK, 20 January 2010 (NNT) – Thai and Malaysian delegates joined the opening ceremony of the Ban Prakob-Kota Putra border crossing, at Nathawi District, Songkhla Province this morning.

Songkhla Governor, Winyu Tongsakul, stated that the project of Ban Prakob-Kota Putra border crossing was the cooperation between Thailand and Malaysia with a budget of one billion THB. The area is 249 rai located between Ban Prakob in Nathawi district, Songkhla province and Durian Burong in Kedah state, Malaysia. The construction took 10 years to complete.

The Governor said that this border crossing would benefit both Thai and Malaysian residents for their exchanges of products and could help develop border trade. The products could also be exported to a third country through this point.
