Dili, 16 January 2026 — The Malaysian Embassy hosted a celebratory gathering to honour the Timorese Sepaktakraw team who participated for the first time in the 33rd SEA Games last December in Thailand.
Organised in collaboration with the Sepaktakraw Federation of Timor-Leste (FSTL), the event was graced by the Malaysian Ambassador Dato' Amarjit Sarjit Singh, who described Timor-Leste's SEA Games participation as a historical milestone.
Describing youths as the nation's future, he also complimented the Timorese team, FSTL, and the 9th Constitutional Government for their commitment.
During his briefing, FSTL President Mr. José Caetano Guterres shared the lessons learnt and achievements from Timor-Leste’s debut at the Games. He also expressed his sincere appreciation to sponsors, namely Weststar Aviation, Timor Lodge, Batik Air, Lita Store and Dr. Patrick Ang for generously supporting the development of Sepaktakraw in Timor-Leste.
Also preecond Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Timor-Leste (NOC-TL), Mr. Vicente Carvalho da Silva, as well as representatives of the sponsors, the coaching team, and the athletes.
