History

The Consulate General of Malaysia in Istanbul was established on 14 July 2020. The establishment of this office symbolises another significant milestone in strengthening the bilateral relations between Malaysia and the Republic of Turkiye.

After a delay of several months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Consulate General became fully operational on 17 August 2020 to render consular services to Malaysians residing in or visiting Istanbul and other surrounding territories. The Consulate General works hand in hand with the Embassy of Malaysia in Ankara, especially in providing consular services.

With support from the Malaysian External Trade Development Organisation (MATRADE), Tourism Malaysia, and Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA), The Consulate General also engages with the relevant Turkish government agencies, local governments, businesses, Turkish citizens and civil societies to promote trade, tourism, cultural and people-to-people relations.
