The Consulate General of Malaysia in Istanbul organised a Malaysian cultural showcase themed “Malay Wedding” on 28 November 2025.
The event gathered members of the Diplomatic Corps, Friends of Malaysia, and members of the Malaysian diaspora, offering an engaging platform for guests to experience Malay wedding customs and traditions. The event showcased the Bersanding Ceremony (the formal presentation of the bride and groom as husband and wife) and Tepung Tawar (a blessing ritual involving the application of scented water, flower petals, and symbolic elements). Guests also enjoyed lively cultural performances such as kompang drumming and dikir barat dance performance.
The event was officiated by Mr. Ahmad Amiri Abu Bakar, Consul General of Malaysia in Istanbul, who reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to fostering closer people-to-people connections.
