AT THE OIC AMBASSADORIAL-LEVEL MEETING

Thank you, Mr. Chair, for giving me the floor. Thank you as well to His Excellency Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad for his briefing on the regional situation in South Asia.

Mr. Chair,

Malaysia has followed the rapid escalation of tensions in the region with deep concern. We continue to emphasise the need for calm and dialogue.

As such we welcome the ceasefire that has been in place, and urge all parties to continue exercising maximum restraint.

Malaysia reaffirms its support for all efforts aimed at de-escalation and meaningful dialogue between the parties. We remain convinced that diplomacy remains the surest path to resolve any crisis.
