HATFIELD, Thursday, 14 August 2014 – The High Commission of Malaysia today organized a lunch gathering to celebrate the Eid Al Mubarak and also celebration in commemorating the 47th Anniversary of ASEAN. Officials of DIRCO, DTI and Department of Tourism South Africa, ASEAN and Muslims Ambassadors and High Commissioners, friends of Malaysia and Malaysian in Pretoria attended the gathering. It was a sober and decent lunch gathering. The event started with Al Fatihah prayer and one minute silent for the victims of the ill-fated Malaysian Airlines MH17 that crashed in the region of Donetsk, Ukraine on 17 July 2014 and the missing flight MH370. There was also a cutting cake ceremony by ASEAN Heads of Mission in Pretoria as a sign of commemorating the 47th Anniversary of ASEAN.
