On 15 October 2012, Ambassador Jojie Samuel accompanied by Mr. Roslan Sharif (Counsellor), visited Finlay Institute of Cuba in Havana. The visit was held on the occasion of the ongoing consultations between the USM and the Finlay Institute from 15th to 19th October 2012 on halal meningitis vaccine production. The USM delegation was headed by Prof. Dr. Norazmi Mohd Nor, Professor of Molecular Immunology, School of Health Science of USM. He was accompanied by the Fatwa Committee of the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs (four representatives), one representative each from the Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM), Lembaga Tabung Haji and Chemical Company of Malaysia, and two other USM colleagues.
During the visit, Ambassador Jojie had an opportunity to participate in the meeting between the two collaborating parties and visit the halal vaccine production plant.
